5 days in Spain suggestions?

We fly in and out of Barcelona the second week of June and will have 5 days/6nights. Planned to spend the first 2-3 days in Barcelona and then wanted to head to the coast…where would you suggest? Will have our 14&16 year old with us…thought about flying over to Ibiza but might be packing in too much so could do another beautiful beach town for 2 days?

You don't have time to go to Ibiza. Checking out, travelling to the airport and all that's involved with flying, transferring to and checking into your new hotel will take the best part of a day and for what? You'll be doing it all in reverse the following day.

Barcelona is on the coast and it has several beaches so why not just stay in Barcelona? I don't see the value in moving around with such a short period available.

With just five-days in Barcelona, just stay in the Barcelona-area, you don't have time to travel AND enjoy the area.

If you must seek out a coastal beach towns to visit, consider Sitges and Cadaques. Both cater to tourists with a nice mix of history, places to stay and beach life. Arenys de Mar is where many Barcelonais go for seaside vacations. Further north is Sant Pol de Mar, which has a number of very nice beaches. Just about every town along the coast has its charms, some are more focused on vacation rentals others are charming fishing villages evolving with the tourism scene others are coastal retreats.

...maybe head to Valencia?

There are about eight to ten major beaches along Barcelona's coastline, from Sant Sebastià at the westerly end to Llevant Beach, the city's easternmost beach. Have you researched these and found something you don't like, or that you think they are lacking? I'm just curious why you want to relocate or head to Valencia. Understanding what's not hitting the mark with Barcelona's options could help guide further advice. Otherwise, I agree with everyone else. Stay in Barcelona, research the options, and pick the beach(es) best suited to you without packing up and moving elsewhere....

We just had friends mention Valencia but truly know nothing so given our time frame, we will prob just keep Barcelona as home base and travel to various areas. This has been very helpful! Thank you all.

If you really want to visit a beach town, then Sitges is 28 minutes from Barcelona Sants via the R2sud.
We spent 3 days there and loved it.
