Hello! At the beginning of my Spain trip, I will be spending the first 4 days in Valencia while my husband attends a conference. Unfortunately, Rick does not mention Valencia in his Spain 2015 book, so I am at a loss! I will be venturing out during the day, then returning in evenings to meet up with him. Any suggestions beyond the Cathedral, the Ciutat de Las Arts i Les Ciencies, and Museo de Bellas Artes? I would also like to try the beaches (traveling early Sept) so any tips about that would be very welcome as well-
Thanks!
... there's indeed life beyond RS's guides you know :)))

We spent 5 nights in Valencia in 2013 and really enjoyed the city. The area around the cathedral is very nice. The Mercado is large and fun to visit and the shopping (El Corte Ingles plus lots of Spanish/European stores) is great - if you are into shopping. There are many outdoor cafes in the old part of town that are fun to people watch.
Lonely Planet books have sections on Valencia and the Internet is a great resource. I also used Trip Advisor for information. We did a tapas tour one evening that was great. We didn't t travel to the beach but I understand it's very easy on the metro or bus. It also felt very safe, so venturing out on your own during the day shouldn't be a big deal.
This is all very helpful- thanks! (I do often forget that there is actually other info outside Rick Steves! Thanks for the reminder!)
