3 Week Honeymoon - Morocco, South of Spain, Paris

We will be traveling in September from Marrakech north to Tangiers and plan on crossing the ferry into Spain (either port is fine). We then have about 6 nights in the south of Spain before flying up to Paris for the last 5 nights of our honeymoon. What would folks recommend for our 6 nights in the south of Spain that would include relaxing at the beach, and seeing some of the sights? We don't have our Spain to Paris flight booked yet, so departure city is open. Thanks!

Malaga airport would be the obvious choice to depart from, plenty of reasonably priced flights within Europe especially at that time as it is still within the holiday season and it is the main airport for people visiting the Costa Del Sol.

There are many places to base yourself along the coast however my preference would be to avoid the likes of Benalmadena, Torremolinos and Fuengirola as there is a significant contingent of brash 'Brits Abroad' types there. We typically stay in the Marbella/Estepona area and the three main sights, Seville, Cordoba and Granada are all within a 2 1/2 hour drive with the likes of Ronda, GIbraltar, Cadiz, Jerez etc being close still.

Be aware that the ferry crossing from Tangier to Spain is very temperamental. Frequent windy weather (the Strait of Gibraltar is like a wind tunnel!) often forces the cancellation of all ferries, sometimes for several days. You might find it a better and less risky option to take a relatively cheap flight out of Melilla to Malaga.

It may well be very hot (into the 90s F) in Morocco and southern Spain even in late September.

Six nights is not very long when you may be hoping to include the likes of ...
• Malaga & beaches
• Granada with the Alhambra
• Cordoba with the Mezquita
• Ronda & the pueblos blancos
• Sevilla
