2 weeks ++ in Spain (Nov)

Hi all, appreciate if anyone could help to see if my itinerary works well.

My next destination after Spain is open, may be Lisbon or any of Benelux country, depending on the airfare. I am open to fly either from Sevilla or Madrid.
Wondering should I visit Madrid after Valencia, and proceed to Granada from Madrid, rather than return to Madrid after Sevilla.
Found it’s a long journey from Valencia to Granada, and yet to figure out what is the best travel options.

Day 1: Departs Roma - Arrive Barcelona (28 Oct 2014, 10am)

Day 2- 4: Barcelona

Day 5: Barcelona to Valencia (Train 2h25m, departs 06:34 or 08:34)

Day 6: Valencia

Day 7: Valencia to Granada

Seems like no direct train, transfer required at Madrid; Valencia – Madrid 1h45 – Valencia 4-5h;
OR tren hotel 23:34 – 07:30 (8h), €52.50; appreciate if anyone could advise me.

Day 8 & 9: Granada (may cut one day if take night train from Valencia, and arrive at early morning)

Day 10: Granada to Ronda (Train only)
06:45 – 09:17 (2h 32m; 19.70E)
12:45 – 15:45 (3h)

Day 11: Ronda

Day 12: Ronda to Seville (by bus, ~2.5hr, 12.70E)

Day 13-14 Seville

Day 15: Seville to Cordoba (Train ~1h)
Day 16: Cordoba

Day 17: Cordoba to Madrid (Train ~1.5hr)/ may depart from Cordoba at Day 16 noon

Day 18-19: Madrid (Day trip to Segovia or Toledo)

Thanks a lot :-)

Sounds good. There's no getting around it, Granada is remote. You just have to bite the bullet. If you are a light sleeper, a night train may not be a good idea. If you don't get much sleep (and no shower), your first day in Granada may not be a happy one. Hopefully, people who've taken it will give details on the experience.

I loved Cordoba. Still, I think 2 nights with one full day and the better part of a second one will be enough. Add the day to Madrid if you want to see much there - or have two day trips. I haven't been to Toledo yet, but I've noted that the consistent advice here is to stay overnight if at all possible. You could even leave your luggage in a locker at the Madrid train station and just take a small overnight bag with you to Toledo.

A better option might be to go from Valencia to Madrid and spend your time there. Then take the high speed AVE to Cordoba and then on to Sevilla. A quick train or bus to Ronda, then a bus to Granada. Then a bus back to Sevilla and fly out from there. As you have found, you waste a lot of time trying to get to Granada from just about anywhere outside of Andalucía. I would not take the overnight train as there are other options.

FYI - Busses are as fast and more frequent in much of Andalucía, especially those places not served by the high speed AVE.

Why is two or three days devoted to the Valencia project rather than using it for easier to reach areas in Castille and Leon.

Rhetorical question only.
