2 week trip to Barcelona, Paris and London

My husband and I are taking our 8 year old son to Europe this summer. We are starting out in Barcelona and flying out of London. I'm looking for itinerary suggestions. Right now I'm thinking of staying in Barcelona for the first 4 nights and then flying up to Paris. I would like to go to some of the castles in the Loire Valley. Is it worth spending a couple of nights in Amboise or should we just commute from Paris for the day. We will probably only go to a few museums, but my son does like going into churches and castles. From Paris we are planning on taking the train to London and spend our last 3 or 4 nights there. We have a total of 14 nights. I've been to London and Paris, but it's been years. I'm looking forward to seeing Barcelona and experiencing Spain for the first time.
FYI... We took our son last summer to Germany, Switzerland and Italy. He's a great traveler.

Any itinerary suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Cindy

First, I'd take the train from Barcelona. It's 6.5 hours on the TGV, much more comfortable than schlepping to/from the airports and going through security, maybe checking luggage (carry-on limits are usually pretty low). Second, I'd allow more than 4 nights in Barcelona. There's so much to see, and the beach, and you're likely to be zonked when you get there.

There are lots of good day trips from Paris, but the Loire Valley is too far. I'd allow 2-3 days to see it with a car. Why only 2-3 days in London?
