2 Nights Granada and 1 Ronda...or Drop Ronda and 3 Nights Granada?

Eek! I'm having trouble nailing down our itinerary for southern Spain. Ronda sounds so interesting, but it seems like it will be a pain to take the long bus ride for just 1 overnight. And maybe we should give the Ronda night to Granada instead? Here's our total itinerary for background, and we've spent plenty of time in Madrid and Barcelona on a previous trip. Having to fly in and out of Madrid because of airfare, tickets are already purchased. Traveling in mid-September.

Arrive in Madrid, 3 nights Seville
1 night Ronda
2 Nights Granada
2 nights Cordoba
2 nights Madrid (with a day trip to Toledo)
Fly home from Madrid

I'd give the night either to Granada or Seville (you only have two non-jetlagged days there, and you probably will be arriving fairly late from Madrid). I enjoy [edit >] Ronda [< edit], but I think it's more important to have enough time in Granada and Seville. I'd lean toward adding the night to Seville.

I would take the night from Ronda and add it to Seville, also. You will be jet lagged when you arrive in Seville, and you will probably arrive late, so you won’t be able to do much on your arrival date. There is a lot of important historical sites in Seville, and it is a beautiful city with stunning architecture, plazas, fountains, and parks. The Barrio Santa Cruz is fun for wandering. There are flamenco shows and carriage rides, and Seville is a great place for soaking up the ambiance.

I also think you should skip Ronda. Spend a night in Toledo instead. You won't regret it.

I disagree that Córdoba is worth only one day. We spent 2 nights there and didn’t see everything we wanted to see. The Mezquita is amazing, bu there is more to Córdoba than just the Mezquita. And it’s lovely to be there at night after the day trippers have left and to see the illuminated Mezquita and Roman Bridge. Seville, Granada, and Córdoba are all very different from each other visually and architecturally and they each have their own unique ambiance, which I don’t think a traveler appreciates with only a day visit.

I spent 3 nights in Cordoba last year. I had about 2-1/2 days and felt a lot of time pressure. I think it would have been OK if it hadn't been Holy Week with early closings, etc. However, there was no hope of getting to Medina Azahara, which I would have liked to see.
