Hi,
We are considering the RS Barcelona/Madrid trip. At the end I think we will have another 2/3 nights available. The trip ends in Madrid and I was thinking of renting a car at Madrid airport and heading to Segovia and using that as a base to maybe explore Avila or Salamanca as well? Any other suggestions?
We have been to southern Spain on a past trip so not planning to head south.

That sounds like agood idea. There are some interesting towns with castles from the reconquista era. A car alows quicker access, but parking will always be the challenge.
