Limited time in Madrid- what are must sees??
What are your interests?
You're spending thousands of dollars to see Europe. Any reason for not investing $20 in a guidebook?
The must-sees are pretty standard and well highlighted in all guide books. Hit you local public library if you don't want to buy a guidebook. Also, view some travel DVDs of Madrid to give you an overview.
Wow - for my daughter - already in Europe at end of trip and only two days in Spain so just wanted to do a quick poll
I'm going to Madrid in October and these are my must sees:
Prado
Reina Sofia
Royal Palace
Naval Museum
Thyssen-Bornemisza
We are art and military history lovers so this works for us.
Day 1
am/ Royal Palace (and Almudena Cathedral)
pm/ Prado Museum
Day 2
am/ Either Reina Sofia or Thyssen Bornemisza
pm/ City Walk ....
San Francisco el Grande
Plaza Mayor
Puerta del Sol
Metropolis Bldg
Plaza de Cibeles
Puerta del Alcala
Retiro Park
Thank you!
I'd try to see the Prado last, because every other museum will be second rate after the Prado.
The Reina Sofia is free to enter Mon, Wed-Sat from 7-9pm and on Sunday from 2:30-7:00pm. You can save a few Euros going then. It is closed Tuesdays. Picasso's Guernica is my favorite of the museum, but no photos allowed in that room.i also like walking Retiro Park by its lake just to people watch.
