16 Hours in Madrid

Hello! I have a layover in Madrid from 8 AM until midnight in August and would like to experience the city in the little time we have. What do you recommend I see to make the most of our time? On my list is to see Guernica, enjoy tapas and seafood, and walk the city.

Thank you!

To add to what David has said, the Reina Sofia has free entrance evenings I believe beginning at 7pm. 2 hours is sufficient time to see Guernica and most of the museum. There will be a line to get in, but it moved quickly. David put the places to visit in a logical order you would see them when walking.
