Hi everyone, I need help with itinerary, please.
Just now planning a trip to southern Spain May 4-20 Flying in and out of Seville.
Was thinking of renting a car?? I have rented a car before in Sicily, was pretty easy, not sure about Spain. Nice to be able to stop in smaller towns.
any sugguestions would be me very helpful.
so far thinking
fly into Seville 5 nights
pick up rental car then head to
Cordoba 2 nights
Ronda or Cadiz 2 nights
Granada 3 nights
Malaga 4 nights
thank you Jane
It's the area around Ronda--where you might want to visit a few of the white villages--that a rental car could be helpful. Otherwise, trains and very good buses will work well for you. I'd try not to have the car in the larger cities.
I agree with acraven. Pick up the rental when leaving Sevilla and return it upon arrival in Granada. You won’t need it in Granada or Malaga. There are a couple places outside of Córdoba where it might be easier having a vehicle and having one for visiting some of the white villages is useful.
Hi Jane, we stayed in all of those locations when we went in 2017. I will share that trip report for the transportation options. Have a great time!

In case you want a spectacular place to stay in Cadiz:

I would flesh out the itinerary in detail first--I love driving trips, but on my two trips to Andalucia, I used train and bus as they are very efficient for these locations. You may only need one "in between" some of these towns and not for the entire trip.
It may affect the order as well. I'd love to return and do a road trip, but it would mostly be concentrated around Ronda.
When you have a car, you may want to book only accommodations with parking, which can sometimes not be ideal.
In driving from La Mancha to Extremadura a couple years ago, I noticed that gas stations can sometimes be far from the highway, not sure if that is a common thing.
I found Malaga very pleasant for a couple days, but not sure about four nights there. Those are days you might put toward Ronda environs for the car trip. If you are interested in beaches, I'd swap Cadiz for Malaga and go to the southeast of Cadiz with a car.
