10 Days South of Spain - Which Cities to Visit?

We are planning to fly in to Malaga in mid October to visit the Andalusia area. Our goal for this trip is to take some cooking classes, food tours, and wonder around the cities - pretty chill. We are not renting a car so train travel will be key. What cities should we visit and in what order? We can fly out of Malaga OR Seville. We've read that Cadiz, Seville, Cordoba, and Granada are the must do's. Also wondering about Ronda. We can extend to two weeks but also don't want to be rushed by going to a new place every other day. Thank you!

One person’s must do is another person’s skip it, so when selecting your destinations ensure there are sites you want to see in that location. Don’t go just because somebody says you should. Without a rental car I’d skip Ronda. With only 10 days consider only visiting three of the cities you mentioned. Each is worth visiting.

Fir your amount of time, you could go to Malaga, Granada, Cordoba and Sevilla and fly home from Sevilla. Or, Malaga, Cadiz, Sevilla & day trip to Cordoba and fly home from Sevilla. Otherwise, you will be moving more often than it sounds like you want.

Here’s my trip report that included a cooking class in Sevilla. And one from February with a food tour there.

We did a similar trip in April 2022. We based out of Seville for 5 nights. That was about right (included day trip to Cordoba). We were in Granada 2 days/3 nights, could have stayed one more day (the Alhambra was so cool, we went back the next day to see it again; and I would like to have taken a tour of the cave houses). One day each is good for Cadiz and Cordoba, I think. It will be a wonderful trip.

In Andalucia in March 2022 I spent 4 nights in Seville, 2 in Granada, 2 in Córdoba. Those are Rick Steves top picks. If you make time to squeeze in another location, see what there is to do in Málaga and Nerja. Nerja has some ancient structures that might resemble the tombs at Mycenae in Greece. See if you can fly into Seville and out of Malaga or into Malaga and out of Seville. I did not rent a car either. When you have a more specific tentative day-by-day itinerary, you can post it and we'll see if it looks doable.
