1/2 day in Madrid

Hi friends!

We are at the end of a 3 week trip in Portugal and Spain, and having been to Madrid twice we decided to leave it off of our itinerary as a major part of our visit. However, we have a half day there before our flight tomorrow afternoon.

If you had a magic wand and were magically whisked away for a 1/2 day in Madrid, how would you make use of it?!?

That "tomorrow" is January 1 is going to significantly limit your options, I fear. This food-focused web page tries to put a positive spin on it but doesn't really offer up many options beyond just walking around. Even the San Miguel Market doesn't open until noon, which I'm guessing won't work too well for you.

If the weather is pleasant you could spend your time in Retiro Park.
