which has a better location Continental Barcelona vs. Contimential Palace

RS recommends both in the Best of Spain book. Mainly which hotel is the most convenient to transportation
and less tourist eating traps.
Thanks, Lynn

Interesting question as they are both in the heart of the tourist center of Barcelona and offer the same convenience for transportation. Keep in mind, walking in Barcelona is a great experience while also offering a wonderful subway system.
As for "tourist eating traps".......... Please define your desired eating experience for we have found wonderful restaurants in the middle of the tourist center.
Tip: if a restaurant has a person hawking their menu at the front of the restaurant then keep on walking.

I stayed in the Hotel Continental and LOVED the location (and the hotel). Its one block from Placa Catalunya, which is a Metro stop and the hub of the bus network. Its easy strolling distance to the market, Barri Gotic, and waterfront. We loved sitting on the balconies overlooking La Ramblas.

The Continental Palacete is a little further from Placa Catalunya, and on the far side from the features listed above. It is in Eixample, the Art Nouveau section of town, and closer to the Casa Mila and things like that.

Overall, the Continental is better located.
