Where to stay in San Sebastian?

Any suggestions on where to stay in San Sebastian?
If you've been how many days would you stay?
Thanks

We stayed in an area called Centro, our apartment backed onto the Urumea river (really a canal). Location was good, within walking distance to Old Town which is where we liked to go and enjoy pinxtos and beverages! We were there for 5 nights and had a great time! I would highly recommend going on a food tour when you first get there, to acquaint yourselves with the hot spots. Lots to do in San Sebastian and I would've like to stay a few more days as we never even made it to the Gros District.

We stayed at Hotel Obispo in the neighboring village of Honderribia which is only a few miles from San Sebastian. It is an old Bishop's Palace...although not huge and run like a b&b. It is a lovely and very comfortable mixture of old and modern and we thought reasonably priced. We were charmed by the gargoyles on the little patio off of our room and enchanted with the views of the French Pyranees. Honderibbia is easy to walk and has good tapas bars. There is a nice church there and in fact has a very popular parador but it was too expensive for us. We had a rental car but there is a bus that takes you to San Sebastian which we would take next time as we found parking difficult. There is a small airport nearby but we didn't hear one plane in the 3 days we were there. Check out trip advisor. We loved it there. Highly recommended. If you have a car take a day trip to St. Jean de Luz. Not to be missed.
