Restaurants and food in Barcelona

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all fine. In September I will be visiting Barcelona for the first time. So, it would be very kind of you, if you could recommend any good restaurants/places with food? Of course I am interested in tasting the local dishes but I am also a huge fan of burgers so please feel free to share your ideas with me. It would mean a lot.

I would like to thank you all in advance for your time and answer,
I hope I'm not bothering you,

My best wishes to everyone,

I will not offer the names of specific places, rather a strategy.

When looking for places walk away from tourist areas into local residential areas. They all will have small restaurants and you will experience authentic food.

As at the front desk were they eat. We did that and were directed away from the tourist strip to a neat place. Heads turned when we walked in as we were not locals. Great tapas and very helpful people.

In Barcelona, there are so many choices. Watch for popular locations filled with well dressed locals.

We ate tapas in Spain as we did not wish to dine late. Several smaller plates and we had a great dinner.

The suggestion to look for restaurants in non-touristy areas is very good. However, if you are in the very touristy area of the Sagrada Familia, I do have a suggestion: Jamon y Vino Restaurant, a 5 minute walk from Sagrada Familia at Carrer de Sardenya 310. We 3 ate there last month and loved the variety on the menu, (including gluten-free and the offer to modify other items to be gluten-free), the food we selected (a fish dish and several paella variations), and the courteous, helpful, multilingual personnel.

Hello,
There are many good restaurants in Barcelona, as well as plenty of "Tapas" and menu del dia (menu of the day specials) that will be posted outside or inside the restaurants. There are many pork and ham options as well. Try to find places NOT located near tourist attractions for better meals and pricing.

We really enjoyed visiting El Cortes Inglés Department Store. It was in walking distance from our Hotel. (Hotel Jazz). We had a couple meals at their 9th floor restaurant. Large variety of different local dishes. The Sangria is delicious. I particularly enjoyed the Vegetarian Paella. We met some locals there who were enjoying the Churros for dessert. In addition the view of Barcelona is spectacular.! The basement boasts a great deli and supermarket. I am probably in the minority who is not fond of Tapas! Enjoy your stay!

We did what the others suggested and had lobster paella at Can Solé. It was delicious and we were the only tourists in the restaurant at lunch time.

After the flamenco show at Palau de la Música Catalana, we grabbed burgers at La Central Hamburguesería Laietana. The burgers were delicious and reminded me of "In and Out". They are open late which was nice since we were hungry after the show.

Teresa Carles. It's vegetarian and we're not, but we liked the food so much, we went there twice.

We were in Barcelona Sept 7-12, 2022. We ate at Casa Lolea twice, on the recommendation of friends & also travelers at our hotel. It was fabulous. Their tapas are top notch, & they offer a variety of sangria. Be sure not to miss their truffle risotto! Also, reservations are a must. It is located near the Palau de la Musica Catalana.
