Our Review of Beautiful Casa Olea in the Middle of Andalucia Region

Summing up in a few words how much we loved our stay at Casa Olea is difficult. In short, you are not going to find two better hosts than Tim and Claire! They welcome you with such warmth and they offer wonderful guidance in how to make your time in the area complete. Their beautiful casa is spotless and every detail is paid attention to. The landscape is peaceful and lovely! You could spend the whole day by the pool and feel you have missed out on nothing. We did it all - pool, hiking, visits to near by Granada. Nonetheless, what made each day complete was the bookends of waking up to the yummy breakfast layout with delicious coffee and ending the day with Claire’s Excellent dinners and Tim’s fantastic wine recommendations on the terrace surrounded by the happiness of all of us staying there. We highly recommend staying at Casa Olea!!

I see you mentioned hiking. I'm very interested in hiking around Granada -- can you please tell me more about your hiking experience? What are the trails like? Is there a lot of elevation gain or any tricky parts? Any good scenery? How long did you hike for?

Thanks!

Hi Mike,
Casa Olea is a little over an hours drive from Granada.

The hike we did was near Casa Olea. The host, Tim, has very detailed descriptions of a number of beautiful hikes, available to his guests, around the area of Casa Olea.
The hike he recommended to us was about 15 KM long with a wide range of interesting topography and beautiful scenery. The elevation gain overall was roughly 300 meters, I think. Tim has other hikes to recommend to his guests which are much shorter in distance, as well. He has detailed descriptions and pictures of each hike on laminated paper, which the guest can borrow for the day. We found this super useful, and we loved the information he provided about the areas we were in.
Cheers, Scott

We have also stayed at Casa Olea. We did several hikes, several that were 5-7 miles and another couple of shorter ones from the guest house. It’s pretty easy, nontechnical hiking. Some elevation gain, but nothing overly strenuous. The scenery is mostly of hills covered in olive trees with white villages often in the distance. We found it quite pretty. If you Google Casa Olea you will see some of the scenery. Bear in mind that the area is hot and dry in the summer.

We liked it so much that we’re going back next year!
