Obscure question about Hotel Europa in Madrid

This is probably a silly question, but I'm interested nonetheless. Way back in 1975, my high school Spanish class took a trip to Spain. Our first night was in Madrid, and the only thing I remember about the place was the music was piped into our rooms. Rick had described the charm of Hotel Europa, with their Muzak.
We are staying there in June, and it would be interesting to know if this hotel has been around that long! Does anybody know?

It's been years since I was there, but I recall that it seemed to have been there forever. I suspect it predates your 1975 school trip by a long time (like maybe 75 years or more...).

I stayed there last fall and I don't remember any Muzak. I know I'd remember if they'd piped it into my room. I would have moved! I wouldn't be surprised if the hotel had been around well before the 1970s.

We stayed at Hotel Europa in 2016 and don't recall Muzak. We were in one of the top floor rooms facing Puerta Del Sol. We had a balcony and watched & listened to the outdoor entertainment. The Mariachi Bands were great. The hotel was built in the 1800's. It's been updated over the years. We enjoyed the vibe of the area and walking distance to sights.

EDITED to add, our top floor room facing Puerto Del Sol had double pane + glass that prevented any outside noise!

We stayed there in 2008 and loved it! The room had been refurbished and we were on a corner with terrific views. A room feature that worked really well were the room darkening shutters as we were very jet-lagged and needed a nap. I don’t recall the Muzak...

We stayed one night in November 2019 after our long flight from the US. No music in the room, but plenty of activity in the plaza. We requested a quiet room, and it was.

Very old hotel. Been around a long time. We have stayed several times in Hotel Europa over the past 25 years or so. Never had any music. The last time we stayed there about 10 years ago it had doubled in size and the remodeled rooms were a little nicer. We like the French balconies on the front of the building for the view but those rooms are little nosier but that doesn't bother us.
