Non-smoking sections in Spanish restaurants?

My limited experience is that there is no smoking inside restaurants, but it is usually allowed on patios, so suggest you make a point of sitting well inside.

Indoor No smoking rules apply.smoking is allowed on patios and all outdoor areas.
Actually annoys me that it is almost impossible to sit outside in the sun without smokers polluting the area .

We were in Spain for 2.5 weeks this past November and no smoking inside restaurants and public spaces was the norm everywhere so that was great for us. Outside is another story though . Lots in the outdoor sections and on the streets but we mostly managed to avoid by being observant and taking evasive action.
