Malaga/a hotel and a restaurant review

The Barcelo Malaga Hotel is an excellent choice for a base if you want to take bus/train day trips and still have the city at your feet and a great beach within a very easy 10 minute walk. The inter-city train provides easy access to Costa Del Sol towns including Fuengirola. The Malaga beach offers a 5 Euro per-person chair rental , and a restaurant if you're so inclined. The hotel offers beach towels for loan. Don't be put off by the fact the property is literally attached to the Maria Zambrano train station, we stayed for nine nights and never heard a train. The rooms are quiet in this city hotel, and the public areas are lovely. The bus station is one block away, great for day trips, like ours to Granada. The property offers a rooftop bar with a small pool, and nice sun-bathing area, with terrific views. The breakfast is amazing, be sure to include it in your room rate.

We had dinner two nights at La Marca, Calle Salitre 4, Malaga a 10 minute walk from the hotel. A varied menu of phenomenal Argentinian steaks, pasta dishes, and pizza. The owner visited our table both nights. They offer indoor and our favorite, outdoor seating.

btw, I'm very interested in Granada/Alhambra but Malaga seems easier to get to in terms of flights from USA. Is it practical to take just a day trip to Granada? did you consider spending a night or two there?
