We will be in Madrid for 4 nights in early November. My 26 year old daughter is joining my husband and I. Would love recommendations for a mid-range hotel or guest suite/apartment that is centrally located, or close to the Metro. We love to walk and are comfortable with local transit. Mostly looking for convenience, safety and good value. Many thanks.
The Puerta del Sol is a centrally located area, approximately equal distance from the Art Museums (Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen) and the Royal Palace and Cathedral. If you can locate a hotel to your liking in that area, both locations are easily walkable. Last time, I stayed at the H10 Via de la Reina and in October, I'm at the AC Hotel Carlton - across the street and around the corner from the Atocha train station.
You don't indicate how you are arriving in Madrid or what interests you. I would base my search from those interests. Madrid is a delightful city and, with easy access to Toledo, I suggest you consider a day trip, there.
The Only You Boutique Hotel in Chueca is fantastic. Metro right around a couple of corners. Lots of places to dine nearby and very easy to walk to lots of places
Hotel Europa is adjacent to Puerto del Sol. Stayed there for 4 nights in April.
We loved the location and style of Hotel Principal.
I think the Hotel Artrip should tick all your boxes. We were very happy there in October 2017. The nicest 2-Star hotel I've ever experienced.
I always choose an apartment if I can. Why wouldn't you want to spread out, have a kitchen, for the same price as a hotel?
We rented from Habitat Apartments. Great selection, prices, and locations. We were in Plaza Santa Ana, perfect.
