Hotels in Granada and Seville

Hello,

I will be traveling alone to Spain in late September, early October: Barcelona, Granada, Seville, Madrid.
I am particularly interested in Moorish architecture, gardens, art and culture.

I would greatly appreciate input regarding the hotels I am considering.

I am very picky when it comes to hotels: soundproofing (very light sleeper), comfort, cleanliness and safety are very important to me.

Barcelona

I expect to take taxis in Barcelona and Madrid.

In Granada and Seville, I have made several hotel reservations while I evaluate the different hotels (many hotels are already sold out). Ideally, I would like a hotel with an interior courtyard, typical of Andalusian culture.

For these two cities, I need to be within easy walking distance of the mains sites.
That will explain, in part, the exceptional extravagance I will be allowing myself. I am willing to splurge when it is worthwhile. (This is a once in a lifetime trip for me.)

Granada

Restaurant (“safe” for the tummy and charming) and activity recommendations are very welcome.

In recent years I have stayed for about a week, each, in two exquisite small hotels in Sevilla; both occupy historic buildings, interior courtyard, quintessential Andalusia architecture. On both of these trips I was alone; both hotels are within easy walking distance of sights and great restaurants. I don't know your price range but if these fit, both would be exceptional splurges. Neither are within the Jewish Quarter/Barrio Santa Cruz, which I find a bit overly oriented toward tourists.

HOTEL MERCER (11 rooms)
HOTEL PALACIO DON RAMON (about 15 rooms)

You already know that the Granada parador is close only to the Alhambra; it's a bus ride or long walk up or down-hill to the center of the city and all other sights. Honestly, I would save my spurge for Sevilla and stay somewhere else in Granada. The Parador is very large and draws a lot of tour groups and you are not going to receive the exceptional, personalized service that you would at a small boutique hotel like the ones I mentioned in Sevilla. I'm not saying that the Granada parador is not special--along with the Parador in Santiago, it is considered to be the pinnacle of all the paradors in Spain--but you are isolated from there life of the city if you stay there..

Hello ekscrunchy,

The Don Ramon is gorgeous. But I might feel a little out of place in terms of wardrobe (I will be favouring comfort and practicality - it will be a long trip!).

Is the Parador in Granada overrun during the day or noisy? I was hoping for a “slow” quiet stay there, with a few excursions into town (Hammam, Albaicin, resto).

What hotel would you recommend instead in Granada?

We stayed at the Hotel Becquer in 2016. Things can change over time, but the location was perfect. We loved walking across the bridge to wander around the Triana.
