Hotel near the museums in Madrid

I am recommending Artrip Hotel on Valencia street in Madrid. It is a very pleasant hotel very near the train station and the Reina Sofia. The hotel is 5 years new. Very friendly staff; reasonable price , very clean- modern decor. (around 90 euros per night for a single). It's on a residential street so there is neighborhood feel. It was quiet during my one night stay. I don't think this has been listed in the RS books- but it should be.

That's a good price for a modern place in that area, but in my experience hotel rates in Madrid are highly variable (as they seem to be everywhere these days). I wouldn't count on always getting a room there for 90€. Perhaps if you booked way ahead.

It's good to read to about my hotel choice for Madrid on this forum. We'll be staying there in October. I wanted a bigger room so I booked their "Junior Suite" for 160 Euros per night, breakfast included.

Just got back from Spain and we stayed on Plaza Santa Ana. I thought that there was much more to do and many more restaurants restaurants then staying in the museum area. And the walk to the museums was only about 10 to 15 minutes. We walked to both the Reina Sofia and the Thyssen. We did stay in an apartment though, not a hotel.
