Not sure how many hotels are within Chueca. It's so close to the Gran Via, Colon, etc, that I don't think you would have to stay IN the district in order to visit often.

Could I ask shy you want to stay there? It's not the nicest part of Madrid (to me) but the location is central, easily walked to from almost anywhere else in the center...Las Letras, Salamanca, etc.

Maybe I don't know that district well enough, but apart from SAN ANTON market, it's mostly filled with shops and low priced "ethnic" restaurants--lots of Latin American food, in particular. One of my favorite restaurants is located around there and when I walk back from my hotel after dinner, I have to walk though Chueca. It's not a walk that I enjoy much.

It's got a reputation as the gay "center" of Madrid, I believe, so maybe there are many nightclubs, etc.... But I've never stayed at a hotel there so maybe I'm missing something.
