There is an international tech conference in the city in that period of time. I have spent hours looking for a hotel and most are booked. If not booked, they are very expensive, 487 to over 1,000 a night, which I am not willing to pay. There are a few places listed that want multiple nights stay during this time as well. If it is listed on the internet, I have probably researched availability. Does anyone have a clean safe place to recommend that may have escaped the attendees of the conference? We are boarding a cruise the next day so we only need 1 night. Any recommendations are appreciated.

We just got back from trip. Stayed in Hotel Indigo Catalunya for two nights before cruise. Great location cost was around $350 a night. very nice hotel.

I feel your pain; I was in Barcelona last March during the Mobile World Congress. I began looking for hotels in September and I had the same frustration as you are having now. BUT, I did find a few options by writing directly to the hotels, even if their booking engine showed no availability. (I ended up booking with Virtuoso, at Hotel Majestic which gave me a complimentary breakfast on the morning of arrival, and very early check in. But it was quite expensive)

Have you considered staying near or at the airport? Booking.com shows several options well below that price point. Depending on your cruise port location that might be more convenient location in any case.

Try the H10 hotels. I did a quick search and found available rooms for under 200 euros. I have stayed at two different H10 hotels in Barcelona over the last four years and have enjoyed my stays.

Thanks to all for your replies. I ended up booking a 4 star apartment/hotel near the airport for less money than a 1 star I had reserved in Barcelona but was determined not to use, but I had it "just in case." Anyway this new booking looks very promising. It is on the beach and we are looking forward to our stay. Thanks again, everyone!
