Four Points Diagonal

I will be in Barcelona for six nights - I am able to stat at Four Points Diagonal for four of those nights for free. See it's about 30 minutes to downtown Barcelona - had anyone stayed here? Is it too far out of the city to be convenient? I would prefer to keep my lodging costs down by staying here - but don't want to ruin the experience to save a few bucks if it's out of the way and not convenient.

Any suggestions are most welcome!

I had the same dilemma about using up points but being too far from the action in Valencia last year, so I made sure to learn the public transit system and taxi details ahead of time, which did come in handy, but what turned out to be a pleasant surprise was that the same location that looked to be too far from the action turned out to be in a vibrant neighborhood that was well worth wandering on foot -- and vibrant with local flavor and activity generated for locals to enjoy rather than for visitors, which is just what many of us are searching for anyway.

So use it to your advantage -- after spending the day in the Gotic or the Eixample, go back, freshen up, and find dinner and evening shows there between the Diagonal and the beaches.

I'll be staying here in two weeks with a family of 8. From what I understand its really not far from downtown - especially if you take a taxi. When are you going? We'll have to let each other know how it works out...

My bigger concern than the distance itself is that it's not near a metro line (although it is on tram and bus lines). So you'd probably spend about an hour a day "commuting" to any and all sights, as you say (30 minutes each way).

If Enric doesn't reply in this thread, send him a private message to ask about the neighborhood.
