There for 3 nights in May. Looking for something convenient and central to interesting areas, without being in the middle of craziness. Cost secondary to location. Thanks for any ideas. Martin

We really enjoyed the Hotel Europark. It's away a bit from the business of Las Ramblas etc but still totally walkable to all the sites. This was one of our splurge hotels for our trip and we were able to book their penthouse suite for $200 per night. They have much less expensive rooms but the penthouse was really excellent. Two large rooms, enormous bathroom, huge patio overlooking the city and the sea. Champagne, fruit and candy delivered at night. I got to split it with my travel partner so it was $100 per night for me. It really made for a special stay.

This was one of our favorite hotels on the RS Best of Spain tour this summer. http://cataloniaportaldelangel.barcelonahotels.it/. Very well located near but not on Ramblas, quick walk to Placa Catalonia, Picasso Museum, etc. Great breakfast, pool, nice people.

We loved Hotel Jazz! Nice room and great views from the rooftop deck, with a pool to cool off. Great place to sit for a glass of something before heading out to dinner. Location is perfect---two blocks off Plaça Catalunya on the border of the Eixemple district. Easy walk down Las Ramblas in the daytime, and at night we went into Eixemple for dinner ( having heeded warnings about Las Famblas at night).

We also stayed at the hotel Catalonia Portal de L' Angel on our Barcelona-Madrid tour a couple of years ago. We loved the location, the staff, and the breakfasts. We recommend it highly.

Our favorite hotel in Barcelona is the Hotel Palace Barcelona. It is so comfortable and the staff take great care of you. It is very conveniently located. Once inside, outside craziness all disappears.
https://www.hotelpalacebarcelona.com It is close to Las Ramblas but not on it. Everything you would wan to see and do plus shopping and restaurants are in walking distance. They have really comfortable beds and it is quite comfortable and and spacious.
