eating gluten free in Madrid- great experience!

today we enjoyed some great GF food at two different places in Madrid. we enjoyed a great morning at Celicoso gluten free bakery, while there we met some helpful customers who suggested we have our evening meal at the nearby da Nicloa italian restaurant.

we found our way there at 8.30pm ( when they opened) the 4 of us ( two of us gluten free) had the best meals ( and experience) we have had for some time. the food and service was fantastic.
having been gluten free for approx 2 decades I have never experienced a restaurant as good. every thing they did was superb.
they have a complete gluten free menu ( in english)- even menus in braille. ( they even have reading glasses available, if you forget your own)
even gluten free beer was available.
with two of us being gluten intolerant the waiters were extremely careful to make sure that we did not contaminate any of the food served on the table. WOW what attention to detail!
all of our meals gluten and 'normal' were better than any italian we experienced in months of italian travel.
we don't have any association with either business, just blown away with good GF food and service.

hope this helps everyone.

Great to hear -- I would add that if you walk about 15 minutes south and get away from the commercial Plaza de Espana area and down to Plaza de Pajaros you'll find plenty of local family-run veggie and health-conscious establishments, where Madrilenos hang out.
