Catalonia Puerto Del Sol vs Hotel Francisco in Madrid Spain

Hello, anyone have any options about either of these hotels? We have narrowed it down to these two potential hotels
in Madrid for our trip in late Sept, 26. Anyone know if either of these are close to a train station?

Thank you!!

Close to Metro stations, both of them.

Not that close to the two main train stations for travel longer distances..maybe half an hour walk to Atocha.
Why not just look at an online map?

Would not be my preferred area to stay in but many, many visitors like that area of Madrid.....not exactly like Times Square in NYC, but a vaguely similar comparison.

Thank you, ekscrunchy. I did see it was a bit away from the train station.
Our thought was that this would be convenient and close to everything.
What area would you recommend staying in? We are in Madrid from the evening of
the 21st to late afternoon of the 25th.
Thanks for your thoughts.

I stay in Salamanca/Almagro, but for a visitor who has not been before, it might be best to stay in the Barrio de las Letras, near the major museums. I can walk from Salamanca to there; the two neighborhoods are adjacent, more or less. And you can walk east across the park to some great restaurants.....

Ii do't know any hotels in Letras, but I'm sure there are lots of them..the famous ones are the Ritz, now Mandarin Oriental, and the Palace. There are tons of moderately priced places to stay in that area..look for something close to the Prado, for example. Look at Room Mate Alicia, very popular on travel forums and looks very nice.

Madrid is VERY walkable. I walk almost everywhere...am I'm not as young as I once was!!

The area near Atocha station is not at all bad, but commercial and not nearly as nice as Letras...

I stayed in Catalonia PdS in 2022 or 23. I enjoyed it. It is very close to the square of the same name, but not in it so you don’t have to deal with the crowds in that square, which are huge. However, the subway is in that square so it’s easy to Charmatin. I walked everywhere else and by Atocha even. I enjoyed the hotel itself and my room was fine. Workers were lovely. I would stay there again if I went to Madrid again, which I doubt. So…I thought it was very central.
