Barcelona with 3 people

I have been checking hotels and it seems as though the room rate almost doubles with for three instead of two people! Is this typical? Is it best to book directly with the hotels?

I've been looking at Gallery Hotel, Seventy, and H10 Madison. Any recommendations for well situated, nice hotels that might not be $465 a night for three people?

Thank you.

hey hey waterbud
i would post in the destination spain forum, you'll probably get more answers. this forum is people reviewing places they have stayed
at before.
prices have gone up everywhere, what are you dates, ages of the 3 people, what's your budget in euros, how many beds, mobility issues climbing stairs/steps, look at cancellation policies, how nice and well situated do you want, the higher the stars * is for amenities in hotel (free breakfast, elevator).
barcelona is a very big busy city and nowdays with so many people traveling there doesn't seem to be an off/shoulder season any more. good luck and do enjoy

All depends on your dates of travel. Depends on bed types as well. Sometimes there is a double and a twin. $465 is too much per night. You may have picked a travel date that coincides with some local celebration or holiday. Booking.com is the best place to search instead of here on a travel forum.

Also, when are you going? There could be an event that is driving up prices. If you post your dates one of our local forum members may be able to help narrow down what's going on about then. Also, some properties charge per person, not per room.

I also suggest looking at booking.com where you can search for a specified number of people in one room. The results will show whether the prices for the property is for one triple room or two rooms (which may be the issue with your prices). I've not had trouble reserving rooms through Booking but going directly to the property could potentially save money (you have to check).

Check Jazz Hotel, good location, roof top bar and pool. It was nice and I don’t recall the price being nearly that high.
Good luck!

Thank you all for your help. I did find a nice, well situated Air B&B that will be perfect.
