Barcelona, Spain Hotel Recommendations

We are taking a cruise that leaves Barcelona in early December. We'd like to spend 2 nights in Barcelona before the cruise.

Are there any recommendations for hotels in Barcelona?

Any feedback on Exe Laietana Palace?

Airport to hotel and hotel to pier transportation would be an amenity plus.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

About 10 years ago we stayed at Catalonia Portal l’Angel. It was a nice hotel centrally located a notch up from the usual Rick Steves tour hotel. This past summer we stayed at Le Meridian while on a Tauck tour. Considerable more upmarket located on Las Ramblas (entrance on a side street). We don’t spend a lot of time on Las Ramblas but this location was excellent, near the Boqueria, Gaudi sites, tapas bars, and the hotel was top notch. For transportation I would advise an official taxi from the airport. All the ones we used accepted credit cards (tap). For transport to your ship you can do the same or have the concierge arrange private transfer. I do not believe either of these hotels otherwise provides transfers.

I am booked on a cruise out of Barcelona in October. After much research, including recommendations from this forum, we settled on Hotel Jazz, located in proximity to Placa Catalunya. It seems to have everything we need, with an excellent central location, and easy access to / from the airport and cruise terminal. Price seems reasonable for location, quality, etc.

We stayed at the Exe Laietana Palace October 2022. We loved it. The location was just a short walk to the water. In fact, we ended up walking everywhere we needed to go, Sagrada Familia, La Pedrera, and las Ramblas. There were a few really interesting museums just a few short blocks away, the Maritime and the History of Catalunya. The cathedral was just steps away.
The rooms were nice sized and breakfast was plentiful.

Thanks to everyone who responded to my request. Greatly appreciated!

Barbara, when you wrote that it was a short walk to the water, does that mean you were able to walk from Exe Laietana Palace to the pier where cruise ships are docked?

Also, was breakfast included with your room rate?

Thanks again for your insight and assistance!

we booked a room with breakfast. We usually eat a large breakfast then our main meal at around 3-3:30. In the evening we have ice cream or a pastry. This schedule works for us. The pier is very close but a little bit of a labyrinth to get there. A cab shouldn’t be too expensive. When you are there, walk down by the water and see for yourself. If you take the cable car up to the first level of Mt. Montjuic you can see the pier. Be warned that if you want to go all the way up you need to take and pay for a second cable car.
