A neighborhood gem!!! Their most famous dish is snails. I know the idea of eating snails is not appealing to some, but this is a true delicacy. Very popular with locals.

The staff was friendly but I got severe food poisoning for six days afterwards. I arrived home yesterday at 2am but spent the same afternoon in the ER, needing IV.

I am so sorry you have been ill! That really detracts from a trip!

Symptoms of food poisoning can occur as soon as one hour after eating or may be delayed by multiple days. I would hate for your food poisoning or gastroenteritis to have originated somewhere else and yet you have called out this restaurant. As you know, being falsely accused of something isn't any fun. I would urge you to be cautious.

My SO and I shared all meals and dishes during our trip, except for this meal. I am sick but he isn't.

I 100% believe her. I am only saying that from a scientfic point of view, it can be very difficult to pinpoint where she contracted the "bug" that caused her symptoms.

You are correct.

I would never publicly accuse a specific restaurant when the "distress" could have come from somewhere or something else entirely. Often the origin of the gastro upset isn't even food poisoning, it is viral, or something totally unrelated to food.

If you suspect a restaurant meal made you ill, inform the local health authorities and let them investigate. Same here or abroad...
