We will be visiting a few wineries in Istria while we are staying there. When we leave Croatia for the portion of our trip in Slovenia, we are looking for a stop or two on our drive from Istria to Bled and have heard that the Karst region has some good wines. We are not interested in seeing the Caves of the region. Wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

If you can fit it into your route, I would highly recommend a visit to the Boris Lisjak Winery which has some award winning wines. It's near the town of Dutovlje.

I bought one souvenir bottle at castle bled.....it was a lovely muskat (from yellow grapes, I believe) as best I can translate the back label its Vina Dornberg......looks like an address of zalosce 29d, 5294 Dornberk . web address of www.dornberg.si. enjoy your trip!!

Do you know the procedure with stopping at Boris Lisjak Wineries. I sent them an email a few weeks back to see if I could schedule a visit and have heard nothing in reply. I know their contact page translates to "Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday." Can I just show up??
