My husband and I currently have 5 nights booked at a house in the Kranjska Gora area of Slovenia for June. We will have a car and plan on doing day trips to other areas of Slovenia from our rental.
This is the last leg of a bigger trip that was postponed from last year due to covid. Everything is booked and paid for; however, I recently found out that we will be able to extend our stay in Slovenia by one night. My question is should we extend our time at the house rental by a night or should we stay one night at the end of our trip in Ljubljana instead?
The pros of just adding another night to our house rental is not having to switch accommodations for just a night or worry about parking overnight in the city. The downside is that how we have it planned right now we will only see Ljubljana as a day trip. We aren’t really city people (although I realize Ljubljana isn’t really a big city), so that amount of time seemed fine for us while initially planning the trip, but now I’m wondering if it's worth moving around to spend a night there now that we have an extra night?
After we check out of wherever we decide to spend that last night we will be returning our rental car and flying out of Ljubljana airport. Looking at google maps, our rental is about 45 min away from the airport versus 25 minutes if we stay in the capital, so that doesn’t seem to make a big difference, especially since it’s an afternoon flight.
