I will be driving a rental car from Rovinj, Croatia to Kobarid, Slovenia in mid September (on a Wednesday). I recently purchased tickets for the Skocjan Caves for a 10:00am tour to do on the way. How much time do I need to allow for crossing the border?

You will be within the Schengen Area, so there will not be checks for a border crossing. I would check with the rental agency to ensure there are no restrictions taking the car from one country to the next. I believe Slovenia will require a vignette.

There is temporary border control in effect. It was going to expire but they extended it. Not sure if they will again. Which I guess means checking passports??
