Venice to Ljubljana

Exploring ways to get to Ljublijana from Venice in late September as quickly and efficiently as possible. GoOpti seems to be the most direct affordable route. Appreciate anyone else who has experiences to share on making this connection.

Besides GoOpti, there are direct buses from Venice and sometimes from the airport - if the timing works you could consider those.

GoOpti is cheapest the earlier you book. Since they don't have fixed times, you have to pick a window of time for the best price - they might pick you up hours after your flight arrives in Venice or something if they schedule you for at the end of the window. They will tell you (text you) the actual time the day before your pick-up, so it's important to have a working cell phone when you get to Italy.

It's possible to save 5 euros off your GoOpti fare by getting a code from someone else who has already used them (they save 5 euros too).

A company called DRD (used them a few times in past years also operates scheduled service between Venice Mestre or the airports and Ljubljana.

It's possible to train directly to Ljubljana now from Venice with a change in Trieste, but it does take a few hours longer than the direct buses or shuttles.

We used Go Opti and found the drivers to be friendly, prompt, reliable, and had great English. It was nice to treat ourselves to a drop off at the hotel, after using public transportation for many days .
Safe travels!

We did the opposite route in Sep 2021 going from the bus/train station in Ljubljana to the train station in Mestre using GoOpti. If I remember correctly the cost was around 33 euro/person. We plan on using them again this Sept for the same journey.

We're traveling from Ljublijana bus station to Venice Piazzale Roma the end of September using TripstAir. The trip is 3 hr 30 min and I think is 30 euro. It seemed the best option at the time.
