Velika Planina without cows?

We will be "in the area" of Velika Planina before the cows come (May 21-23). I wanted to make a stop to see the cows and the herdsman but it appears we are a couple weeks early for that, as that is expected in early June. I'm sure it is beautiful with many flowers blooming, but I am now thinking it is better to skip this area. Reading the RS guidebook, he says he'd skip if the cows aren't there. We do enjoy hiking, but there are many other places that won't take at least a half day. We will be staying in the Logar Valley for three nights, and maybe it will be better to spend our time concentrated there.

What do people here think about visiting Velika Planina without the cows?
Thanks!

Lake Bohinj is a good alternative for an entire day of hiking around the lake inside Triglav National Park.

We are spending 3 nights at Lake Bohinj after leaving the Logar Valley, so definitely will be doing some hiking around there.

Hi, Beth. I would skip Velika Planina if the cows and herdsmen are not present. As you know, the Logar Valley has much to offer.
