Two Weeks in Slovenia July 18th to August 1st

Hi. We have a loose itinerary. We arrive on the 19th. Stay three nights in Ljubljana. On the 22nd we leave for Behind and stay there until the 27th. (We have already paid for the hotel.). Then, on the 27th, we leave for Piran. We stay there until the 31st. We then leave for Ljubljana to fly back on the 1st.

We will get a car on the last day in Ljubljana and drop it off on the 31st.

Any suggestions for day trips? Any other suggestions?

If by any chance you love horses, the Lippizaner stud farm in Lipica is wonderful.

I am trying to make sense of "Behind". Do you mean Bohinj? If so, it is a beautiful lake, well-placed for hiking if you enjoy that, as well as water activities on crystal-clear water with no motorboats.

In Bohinj you have so many nice hiking trails and also day trip to Soca Valley is must, but best to have a car or mayby join 3Glav Adventures on tour - Emerald River Tour. It's not cheap, but in a day you will see the best of Triglav National Park.

We were in Slovenia a June-July, 2015 and rented an apartment for a week in Bled. Lake Bohinj is about a 20 minute ride from Bled. I hiked up to Triglav, while my wife stayed in Bled. Here are some ideas to consider for day trips from Bohinj:
1- Doing the Bled island church, the Bled castle on top of the hill, and Vintgar Gorge is a full day option.

2- We did a day trip to Vogel ski center - took the tram ride, then hiked to Orlove Glave (moderate level) and had lunch at summit. After getting done with Vogel hike, we also drove over to Waterfall Slap Savice (531 steps to get to the water fall, so bring a bottle of water along).
3- Another day we drove to Trenta village. We wanted to see the Russian chapel, Vrsič pass, and Julian Alps. To get into Trenta village, there will be 52 road turns (so be ready to do a lot of gear shifting). In Trenta we stopped for lunch at Gostilna Metoja, with spectacular views of the mountains.
4- Planica Nordic Center is a world class winter ski jumping facility. When we were there in early July, the upcoming young jumpers were practicing, because the five ski jumps all have a carpet surface for year round activities. We also took a ride to Aljazev Dom, via Mojstrana. You can drive all the way up into the valley and have a good view of Triglav summit and the north wall experts climb.
I planned out my road maps before getting there, and followed GPS instructions, while also enjoying the beautiful sights of Slovenia. I assume that you are using RS travel book for Slovenia, it has lots of great details. We are going back there next year.

We were there in June and went canyoning in Bohinj/Behind 😬. Several tour operators on the lake offer canyoning. If you’re halfway adventurous do it. It was our highlight of Bohinj. 69€ pp. should be illegal to have that much fun with your clothes on! Rappelling, sliding, jumping, zip lining. Anyone can do it. The guide was great. Left at 9am got back at 1. Still enough time to do something else. If I go back I’ll do it again. Check out the restaurant Pri Hrvatu if you’re there. 5 stars at a 2 Star price.
