Travel to Kocevje and Dolenjske Toplice areas

Hello, has anyone ever traveled into the southeastern regions of Slovenia? We’re interested to explore places like Kocevje and Dolenjske Toplice and we’re wondering if these places are connected by trains at all or are they pretty much only accessible by buses? (We’re not planning to rent a car.). Thanks! Jennyd

My husband and I have stayed twice in the area around Novo Mesto, for a total of five nights. It's a beautiful pastoral area of rolling hills, mostly tidy farms and forests. One day we went to the Vitarium spa in Dolenske Toplice.

No trains. I've no idea about buses; I honestly can't imagine traveling in Slovenia without a car except in Ljubljana. It's easy driving in southeastern Slovenia: mostly two lane roads, no traffic, no Alps. There aren't a lot of all-day destinations in the area, a lot of places only need a couple of hours. Without a car you could feel pretty stuck.

Is there anything else in particular you would like to hear more about?
