We're in Europe in May, spending time in Croatia, Slovenia and Germany. Has anyone traveled from Ljubljana to Munich by train or by air? Recommendations on which is better? Thanks!
I’ve flown from Munich to Ljubljana on Air Dolomiti. It was a clear day and there was a lovely view of the Alps below.
Air is faster, but the 6h20min train ride (direct in the morning) is reportedly quite scenic (I only know the northern half of the route), crossing the Alps. And environmentally sounder. I would take the train, personally.
Yes, the train is a bit slower but the views are great.
We took the train when we went a few years ago. Once we hit the ground in Europe, we stay on the ground and take trains. It is so much simpler than getting to the airport and going through security. If you buy your train tickets on bahn.de well in advance it is very inexpensive. And the scenery through the Austrian Alps is beautiful.,,
You have all been wonderfully helpful! Thank you!
