Has anyone taken the train to Ljubljana from Munich?
I'll be travelling via train this coming September. Bahn has some of the best train information - routes and time travel.

Not sure if you were looking for something else. Have fun!
The Austrian part of the trip - between Villach and Salzburg - is stunning, going right through the mountains.
I don't remember anything special about the train itself, which is a good sign.
We took the train from Wels, Austria to Ljubljana, with a change in Salzburg. It was just fine. Nice scenery.
It looks like there will be two transfers at Munich Ost and Villach with 10 min to change trains. We do not have physical limitations so is the short time an issue.
10 minutes is plenty of time.
If I can read between the lines. looks like you are on the 14:11 S-Bahn from Munich Hbf to Munich Ost with a 7 minute connection to an EC train to Villach where you have a 10 minute connection to Ljubljana.
If you have already purchased your ticket, by Deutsche Bahn rule "vor-und-nach-lauf", you can take any local train to connect with your trunkline train. So leave on an earlier S-Bahn from Munich Hbf to Munnich Ost. They go about every 2 minutes. All of the S-Bahns in that direction will stop at Munich Ost. So if you want a 15 minute connection time, leave Munich Hbf at 14:00 or thereabouts. The S-Bahns go from the underground platforms at Munich Hbf.
At Villach, at least for the date I am looking at, you arrive on track 3 and the train to Ljubljana will be waiting for you on track 2, sections D to E. That means it will be a simple cross platform connection, no need to use the stairway to the under-track passageway.
If you have not bought your ticket yet, you can leave at noon and the connecting train at Munich Ost is direct to Ljubljana, so no worries about the transfer at Villach.
Sam, thanks for the thoughtful reply. We are a scheduled to arrive in Munich mid morning then heading to Ljubljana. If we are reading the schedule correctly it looks like we can take the S-8bahn to Munich Ost to catch the main train. That would eliminate one of the quick train changes.
Yes, the S-8 goes every 20 minutes from the airport. Take the first available one and you can wait at Ostbahnhof as there are coffee shops/restaurants/bars inside the station to kill time before your EC train.
Great! Happy trails.
