We are getting to take our first RS tour, the 14 day Best of the Adriatic. I'm curious about tipping. For those of you who have taken a tour, what is your recommendations about tipping.
Thanks
From the RS tour website: "What we include… All tips: The tips for your guides and driver are included."
Also this thread from a couple of months ago covers the subject quite thoroughly.
NO! They are really clear on this...and on the 3 Rick Steves tours we've taken, even the guides have addressed it; and not in a we aren't allowed to accept tips conversation. It's, you've paid; it's all included; no tipping. There have been some interesting conversations on this forum about this topic if you search around.
There is NO tipping of tour guides or bus drivers. This is included in the price you paid.
From the FAQs here https://www.ricksteves.com/travel-help/tours-faq
Your tour includes tips for the guide, driver, group meals, and housekeeping. Please do not tip beyond this.
You have had your answer already, but I just wanted to mention how much i appreciate this policy of Rick Steves Europe. It is really a win-win. They price the tour to include good renumeration for their employees that is not dependent on individuals choosing to tip or not. You know your real price upfront and don't have to worry about what to tip or what currency to use.
AND will add that if you have other first-timers on your tour who decide to "take up a collection" for the guide, you should loudly say..."tipping is included according to Uncle Rick".
If they dont already, RS should include this in the "terms and conditions" agreement that you make when signing up for the tour.
The fact that tips are included, and the lack of “add an excursion” fees, were major selling points for me to sign up for my first RS tour.
Thanks for everyone's replies. I can see I didn't dig deep enough on this subject but I appreciate everyone's direction and advice
