Soca Valley + Bohinj/Bled --- what is achievable and logical in 3 full days?

As I have noted in earlier posts, we will be in Slovenia this summer for 16 nights. I am starting to refine plans. We have 3 nights above Kobarid at a tourist farm and 1 night in Radovljica to serve as our bases for seeing the Soca Valley and the Bled/Bohinj areas. That means we basically have 3 full days to see the sights. I am trying to figure out what is reasonably achievable considering drive times, hiking times, etc.

  1. Would it be possible to see the WWI museum in Kobarid, do the Kobarid Historical Trail, go to the Kolovrat Outdoor Museum, and see the church at Javorca in a single day? I'd like to have guides/formal tours at the museums. My assumption is that Javorca would push this day over the edge. I cannot quite tell how much time to allot for that specific site.

  2. Would it make sense to take the car train to see the sites around Bohinj and then car train or drive back to Kobarid for a day?

  3. To avoid some backtracking, we think we will do the Vrsic Pass on the day we leave Kobarid for Radovljica and then also tour what we can of the Bled area this day --- probably about half a day for the pass and half a day for the Bled area. This plan means we will be doing the pass in the opposite direction of what most people seem to do and it sounds like we'd perhaps miss out on good Soca Valley views.

The other option, if seeing the pass going the standard route is best, would be to take the car train to the Bohinj area, see sites around Bohinj for about half a day, and then do the pass the latter half of that day. If we wanted to see more of Bohinj, I figured we could do that the same day we leave Kobarid, likely using the car train again, on our way to Bled and Radovljica.

  1. I cannot really figure out how much time the car train saves. For example, using Google Maps, it says a drive from Kobarid to Ukanc is about 2 hours, and a train is about 3 hours. If the train it is referencing is the car train, then it seems to save no time at all.
