Dear fellow travelers,
I have a trip planned to Slovenia Sept.5,2023. Is it unreasonable to expect to travel there with the recent flooding. I've kept my eye on Promet for road conditions and have emailed my hotels, but haven's received info yet. Up to date info is difficult on line or Euro News. Everything is 8 days old. I guess the embassy is next. Maybe this is the tri for next year? Thanks for any info you might share with me.
If you’re traveling to areas that have been effected by the floods I would think long and hard on what you would want if you lived there. As we are hearing from Maui, there’s a fine line between what is respectful and what needs to still happen to keep their economy, one mainly based on tourism, going.
I am in process of booking hotels for my next year's trip in Slovenia, I emailed a question to my hotel in Logarska Dolina two weeks ago, did not hear from them for a week; they finally emailed me back, they lost internet for a whole week due to flood, they apologized and promised to get back to me when they have steady services...
Try Facebook - find groups where there are Slovenian locals who can give you first-hand feedback. E.g. I once joined a Facebook group called EXPATS IN SLOVENIA (daydreamed about moving there once). If I had this question, I'd be posting questions like this on that group.
Thank you Leeshoa and Andrew. Much appreciated.
Remember that tourist dollars are important. Bringing in tourists will bring in money to pay for repairs.
