Any help where we might visit a museum or great store that features this great craft? We are visiting in June.

We stopped in Idrija and visited the Idrija Lace School. There is a small shop and a showroom with exhibits of student work. The teacher in the exhibit space gave us a quick tour and explained the history of the school.
Idrija is a great little town (with fabulous local dumplings!). I recommend stopping at the school and their shop. We would have liked to go to the Mercury Mine Museum, but that didn’t work out.

Idrija is indeed the place to go for lace. And I would high recommend the mercury mine, too... UNESCO World Heritage site!

Check the hours at the Idrija Lace School. On our visit, we were given a demonstration by one of the instructors, and it was fascinating. I purchased gorgeous earrings and some beautiful Christmas ornaments. There were other items available.

Thanks to all for your help. I hope that I can make this work for us. Trying to locate a driver and guide from Trieste. Any suggestions?

Check Daytrip.com for a quote. Our experiences with their drivers have been great, but they are not guides per se.
