Slovenia Car Rental Insurance

Hello all!

My mom and I are planning to rent a car for part of our time in Slovenia next month. Does anyone have suggestions for which insurance add ons would be best when renting a car here? There doesn't seem to be one single plan, everything is separated. For example, windshield insurance, tire insurance, accident insurance, etc. We will be driving from Ljubljana to Lake Bled, through the Julian Alps and Karst region, then back to Ljubljana.

Thanks for any tips you can give!

Do you have an American Express Card?

They offer Primary rental car insurance for $19-$25 for the entire rental period (up to 60 days, I believe).

Citi Aadvantage Mastercard does the same thing for free.

There are some other Crecit Cards which offer Primary Coverage in Europe, check online.

Don't have a card that provides Primary Coverage? Then I suggest buying everything the rental office offers.

Rental Car Companies will bill for any damage 10 mm in size or greater, including plastic hubcaps scratched by the curb. (yikes).

Happy and safe travels!

They may offer it, but they may not actually cover a claim. "Amex Assurance" didn't cover my claim a few years ago when renting in Croatia! It was completely valid, and I provided them all the information they asked of me when submitting my claim. But they claimed the car company never responded to their query for information. It didn't sound like they tried very hard. And why would they? If they tried harder, they'd actually have to pay it. Better to leave me stuck with the $630 in damages.
