I will not rent a car. Train preferred, but bus if somewhere I really want to go.
Starting in Ljubljana. I have some interest in Austrian towns close to Slovenia border.

Response to my own post.!I have found out that I can go everywhere I want to go by train or bus. Slovenia is a small country compared to Italy, for example.
I honestly don't understand the compulsion to rent cars!

And you are right - we see some info, but not a lot, on the forum on how to specifically use public transportation in Slovenia. Come back and report!
I know I had my car for a Croatia-focused trip, with only 5 nights in Slovenia. So it was just convenience, which saved me time since I didn’t have to meet public transportation deadlines. For a longer trip, I might do differently.
