As Emily said in the previous post, I have two stops very close together. We have 6 days in the Julian alps and I am wondering if we should just have one base and if it should be Lake Bled, Bohinj or Kr Gora? We will have six days to explore this area and I’m mostly interested in hiking. From here, we head back to Salzburg. Thanks all.
We visited that area last year but decided on two bases: Kranjska Gora (north) and Lake Bled (south). If you like hiking then probably Bohinj might be a better choice than Bled (Bled can get quite congested in summertime). We decided to do so because otherwise we would be in our car driving too long for the things we wanted to see and do. We really wanted to drive the Vršič pas for instance. And that is best done from Kranjska Gora.
My advice would be: decide what you want to see and do and then choose your base(s).
I stayed 5 days at Bohinj, using it as a single base for the area, but I think it is okay to have split bases, too, according to your preferences and what you want to do.
Have you looked at Kobarid as a base?
