Route from Dolomites to Julian Alps, Lake Bled, Ljubijana

I am interesting in readers’ opinions regarding spending time in the Julian Alps and Ljubijana. I’ll be hiking in the Val Gardena region of the Dolomites next year, after which I plan to drive to Slovenia, first stopping in Kranjska Gora for a couple of days, then to Lake Bled for two days, with a final two days in Ljubijana, before returning to Venice. The only lengthy drive seems to be from Selva in Val Gardena to Kranjska Gora (5 or 6 hours?), but may be someone would suggest another place to stop or have a suggested scenic route to get there from Italy? (I am use to mountain roads, so I don't mind alpine driving and prefer that to autobahns as long as I can get to my destination in a reasonable amount of time.) I’m interesting in spending time in the Lake Bled area since I’ve heard there is a Slovenian beekeeping museum in the nearby town of Radovljica. I am a beekeeper and would not want to miss this. Any thoughts on spending time in that part of Slovenia would be appreciated.

I think you might be over estimating the driving time from Selva to Kranjska Gora. Probably half that.

in lake bled see the castle (great restaurant up there) and also take a boat across the lake. be aware that driving after dark is VERY difficult there......signage is scant and not illuminated...... we recommend the mulej bled turist farm at bled.....easy walk into town
on the way back to venice stop off at acqueilia......amazing 5th century mosaics....the grounds are free and there is a coffee shop there

Since you are driving, I would at least stop at the more rural Lake Bohinj, which can also be an overnight alternate to Lake Bled. Glad that you will include the beekeeping museum; which I loved.
