"Roundabout" tours, Ljubljana, Slovenia

We're planning two consecutive one-day excursions in April from Ljubljana to the major sights in Slovenia. Rick mentions "Roundabout" as a "well established outfit" and we like their itineraries and timing offered. Before booking, we wonder if anyone can tell us if this company is a full service tour operator with their own guides and vehicles OR are they basically a booking agent for independent contractors? (The former is greatly preferred over the latter.) Has anyone used "Roundabout" for day trips from Ljubljana to the countryside and can offer comments, advice or recommendations? Your answers are appreciated. R. Sterling

Hi Barb and Dick,

We are good friends with the owners of Roundabout and they are a full service tour operator. They only pick the best guides and have mostly full time guides plus a few they hire on a seasonal basis. They are probably the no1 tour company in Slovenia along with Slovenia Explorer. Read their reviews, they are very serious about providing the best tours and service.

The Alpine Fairytale/Caves/Karst and Coast are the most popular tours but the others are just as good.

Ciao

We used Roundabout when we visited Ljubljana for 2 weeks in October 2016-very enjoyable way to see the sights.
Booked both the Alpine Fairytale and Karst and Coast mystery tour before leaving home-very easy online process.
The guide picked us up on time, very professional, provided information-cultural and historical about Ljubljana and Slovenia as she drove us to the various points. Answered any questions. there were 6 of us on tour
We liked that once the guide/driver got us to the destination we were free to do our own thing -eg Skofja loka town-she showed us around a little then away we went on our own. Plenty of time to explore at each stop. same idea at Piran, Lake Bled
When arriving at the Skocjan caves-she gets you to the ticket window, the tour is done by the cave guide(fantastic place!) then the Roundabout guide is waiting at the exit. Same thing when we walked the Vintgar gorge.
The website gives all the details about the different tours, how much entrance is to the various places eg have to pay separate for caves, gorge , other-but again very clear on website the costs
Friends of our also booked with Roundabout and had a great experience.

This isn't an excursion out of Ljubljana but will mention as was so much fun-food/drink walk with Ljubljananjam (www.ljubljananjam.si). Guide took us to several places to sample foods/beverages that would have been hard to find on our own. tour was 3-4 hours. lots of info on the website . easy to communicate via email with Iva about the tours. we booked ahead.

Have a wonderful time-we love Ljubljana!

We took the food and wine tour with Roundabout Tours and it was our favorite of our trip of Slovenia and Croatia. We had a car and drove the two countries on our own with mini-tours throughout the trip. Now I look for similar tours when I am planning vacations.
