Looking for restaurant recommendations in Lake Bled
We were in Lake Bled for two nights. Neither of our meals was outstanding. However, Old Cellar Bled was memorable because it was so bad. The service was extremely poor. First server came to the table, put down a pitcher of water, said she would be back to explain the menu and never returned. Another server arrived, did not ask if we wanted wine/cocktails; no explanation of menu; took our order and left. Server #3 brings food, and sets it on table with nary a smile. NO ONE returned to check on us. Food was average at best; the portion of sea bass was one tiny fillet. Vegetables contained leeks, and they were gritty. We had to flag down someone to receive our check. The restaurant enforces a 2€ cover charge per person, because according to the menu, "We do not charge extra for tap water, olive oil or bread, and serve you amuse bouche". Their idea of an amuse bouche was two thin, dry breadsticks, no type of spread or olive oil came with it. We would never return to Old Cellar Bled. Save your money and look elsewhere. Surely Lake Bled has better dining options, sadly we did not find them.
Oh wow! That does sound terrible! Maybe we will plan on cooking all our meals while we are there.
Our favorite restaurant in Bled central; Oštarija Peglez'n. Fabulous seafood, pasta & more. Recommended by the parking lot attendant just above the restaurant. How good you ask ...... we ate there 3 times over 4 1/2 days. They recommended an Italian restaurant just north of Bled central and it was outstanding as well. Sorry can't remember the name. There are several big restaurants in Bled central w/ lots of tour bus people. Both of our favorites were small & quaint.
